ENGINEERING PLASTICS & AUTOMOTIVE

Performance after processing.
That is the benchmark.

High-aspect-ratio and surface-modified wollastonite for PP, PA and other engineering compounds. Select for dispersion, finished-part performance and total formulation cost, supported by a defined comparison programme.

IS THIS YOUR TEAM?

Compounders & modified-plastics producers

Developing PP, PA and other mineral-filled compounds for defined part requirements.

Masterbatch manufacturers

Selecting mineral dispersion, particle distribution and surface compatibility for concentrate systems.

Technical formulation teams

Comparing fillers and partial reinforcement replacement before component qualification.

BUILD THE MATERIAL BRIEF

A grade built around your purchasing requirements.

We supply high-quality wollastonite for engineering plastics & automotive. Share the requirements below so we can match a grade, prepare a sample and quote against a clear specification.

Grade selection and acceptance criteria
Decision areaYour requirementsQualification & acceptance
Morphology before & after processingRaw-powder aspect ratio, particle-length distribution and morphology retained after mixing / extrusion.Paired microscopy using agreed sampling, extraction and image-analysis methods; report the distribution and retention definition.
Chemistry & particle distributionBrightness, Fe₂O₃, D10 / D50 / D97, oversize, oil absorption, moisture and LOI.Full material specification and test conditions, beyond mesh alone.
Dispersion & compatibilityPP / PA grade, resin moisture, silane / titanate treatment and coupling package.Dispersion and processing observations with the agreed resin and loading.
Mechanical propertiesTensile, flexural and impact performance.Specimens made, conditioned and tested under the same documented protocol.
Thermal & dimensional behaviourHDT, shrinkage, warpage and surface finish.Compare equivalent specimen geometry and moulding conditions.
Consistency & supplyBatch control ranges, lead time and application-support scope.Request multi-batch trends and agree the trial, documentation and delivery schedule.

THREE MATERIALS · ONE TEST PLAN

Compare wollastonite,
talc and glass fibre.

Request a coordinated comparison of your incumbent materials and a matched wollastonite grade. Define the resin, loading basis and processing protocol before preparing compounds or test specimens.

A / WOLLASTONITE

Application-specific grade

Define aspect ratio, particle distribution, surface treatment and the expected retained morphology.

B / TALC

Your reference grade

Use the named incumbent talc grade at the agreed loading to compare dispersion, finish and measured performance.

C / GLASS FIBRE

Your reinforcement reference

Record fibre grade, sizing and loading. Compare mechanical balance, dimensional behaviour and surface quality.

Keep the comparison meaningful.

Use the same resin lot and a stated loading basis (weight or volume), with controlled mixing, extrusion, moulding and specimen conditioning. Record any necessary process changes. Evaluate tensile, flexural, impact, HDT, shrinkage, warpage, finish and compound / part cost.

For partial glass-fibre replacement: add a hybrid formulation alongside the original glass-fibre control. Target surface improvement, reduced warpage or lower total cost, while meeting the required mechanical properties.

Powder samples, compounded pellets and moulded test specimens have different preparation requirements. Reference-material sourcing, specimen preparation, trial scope and delivery arrangements are confirmed for each request. Results are measured in the agreed formulation.

QUALITY DEFINED WITH YOU

High-quality material.
Supplied to the agreed specification.

We supply qualified wollastonite materials for the applications we serve. Quality is defined by your agreed grade, test methods and acceptance limits, with product selection tailored to the way you manufacture.

01 / DEFINE

Your specification

Set chemistry, particle distribution, brightness, morphology and any treatment requirements.

02 / QUALIFY

Your approved sample

Evaluate a representative grade in your formulation and agree the material acceptance criteria.

03 / ORDER

Your supply standard

Agree batch COA requirements, key-parameter control ranges, packaging and a confirmed delivery schedule.

04 / REPEAT

Consistency & technical follow-up

Request multi-batch trends and define application-trial support, issue review and repeat-order requirements.

Request the grade-specific documentation your team needs. Any third-party certification or destination-specific approval is confirmed through its applicable documents.

YOUR QUALIFICATION VARIABLES

Resin ×morphology × process

A high raw-powder aspect ratio is only the starting point.

Mixing and extrusion can change particle morphology. Evaluate the retained length and aspect-ratio distribution after processing, then relate those measurements to the properties of the compound and moulded part.

We focus on formulation optimisation and partial replacement opportunities. Surface finish, warpage, mechanical balance and total cost must be demonstrated in your system; the appropriate replacement level follows from those results.

FROM REQUIREMENT TO SAMPLE

A practical path to evaluation.

01

Define the component

Tell us your polymer, current filler, loading and target part.

02

Match the mineral

Agree morphology, particle size, treatment and documentation needs.

03

Compare the compound

Measure properties, processing and part mass against your baseline.

BEFORE YOU START

Your questions.
Clear answers.

Can wollastonite replace glass fibre, talc or mica?

Treat it as a formulation comparison. A replacement ratio cannot be set without assessing strength, stiffness, impact, processing, appearance and cost in your system.

Does a higher aspect ratio always perform better?

Select morphology for the required balance of properties and processing. Include dispersion and retained particle shape after compounding in the comparison.

Is the product approved for automotive parts?

No specific automotive or OEM qualification is represented on this page. Confirm all component and customer requirements through the relevant qualification process.
